Fit Collection
Challenge: Design a specialized gym bag collection for CALPAK, leveraging the success of previous collections that have been increasingly seeing success in the fitness category.
Objective: To create a new line of gym-specific bags that seamlessly integrates with CALPAK’s aesthetic and core demographic while incorporating gym-specific features.
Approach: This collection was designed with the intent to elevate CALPAK’s offerings in the gym and fitness market. By combining stylish, athleisure-inspired designs with functional elements specific to gym use, the new collection aims to meet the evolving needs of our customers while enhancing the brand’s presence in the fitness category.
Sketch Concept Ideation
Fit Gym Bag
Yoga Mat Straps
Adjustable straps on the front with a plastic buckle closure make attaching a yoga mat, foam roller, or towel simple and easy.
Padded, Adjustable Shoulder Strap
The Fit Gym Bag incorporates a padded shoulder strap to ensure comfort during extended use. Recognizing the bag’s large size and potential for long-distance wear, the strap provides the necessary cushioning to prevent discomfort.
Side Water Bottle Pocket
An external water bottle pocket that fits larger 32oz bottles such as the Hydroflask, Owala, and Nalgene was one of the most important features we knew to add for a gym bag.
Shoe Compartment
The Fit Gym Bag includes a dedicated shoe compartment, a key feature that has been highly valued in our previous duffel collections. This compartment provides a separate, ventilated space for storing gym shoes, keeping the rest of the bag clean and organized.
Trolley Pass-Through
To align with CALPAK’s identity as a travel brand, the Fit Gym Bag includes a trolley pass-through, designed to fit over the bars of a luggage trolley. The bag is also sized as a personal item for under-seat storage on flights.
Phone Pocket
Understanding that users need easy access to their phones during workouts and travel, this feature was designed to offer a convenient and secure place for phones of various sizes.
Fit Hanging Dopp Kit
Removable Dopp Kit
This innovative toiletry kit features a clear PVC window and a removable dopp kit secured with a zipper. This thoughtful design offers a unique two-in-one functionality, ideal for gym-goers. The main section can be hung for easy access to your essentials while you use the separate dopp kit at the mirror or in the shower area.
